Message from the President:

As a new President of the Finlandia Foundation I sincerely want to thank all the members for the trust you have placed in me.  I am honoured to preside this historical institution established on an excellent foundation previous Presidents have built for over the years. I foresee an active and creative season before us and rely on your kind contributions to make this a very successful and exiting period of many new activities and events.

Let me introduce myself in a few words: I have been in the US over 25 years and I have three children , one son and two daughters.  I am working at the Finnish Consulate in New York. I have Master’s degree in Art History and Administration from New York University. I'm enthusiastic promoter of Finnish Visual Arts and my first undertaking is to take the members of Finlandia Foundation to see the most exciting and fascinating Finnish Contemporary Art exhibition that New York City has ever seen.

I have arranged with the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center a private exhibition tour for the Finlandia Foundation. This is an extraordinary, one-in-a lifetime experience at the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center which is affiliated with the Museum of Modern Art - “MoMa”, one of the oldest and largest non-profit art centers in the United States and totally devoted to the cutting-edge approach to the Contemporary Art.
The exhibition is organized by the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, the Finnish for the Arts, the Finnish Art Society in collaboration with the Artists' Association of Finland and FRAME, Finnish Found for Art Exchange. "The Arctic Hysteria: New Art From Finland" is an overview of Finnish Contemporary Art and  covering 16 Finnish artists and art groups. The 'Arctic Hysteria' tour is going to take place on September 6 and 7, 2008, 12:30 pm both days. (see below how to register for the tour)

On a more serious note I would also like to remind you who have not yet paid the membership fees and are still in our mailing list that now is a great time to renew your membership and show your support. We welcome you to become a more active member and by sending your check now you will help us to maintain high standards of our programming. We invite to join one of our Committees by contacting the Chairperson of the prospective Committee. We expect very active season ahead and we need the unique contribution only you can give us.
Our Board members are already busy organizing outstanding events for the year and they are:

In Memory of Rocco Caporale

Professor Rocco Caporale, beloved and adoring husband of our Taina Elg passed away on June 30th after a serious operation. Professor and Dean John D.
